Well my Granny passed away tonight. I just got back from her house where the family had been gathered during her final moments. She had been ill ever since her kidney's failed, and was given the choice of triple-visits a week for dialysis for an extra month or 3... or to go home and wait to die. She chose the latter and has been at home with nurses and family members ever since waiting for the inevitable. She taught me to drive way back when. She'd take me out in her old Honda Civic Wagon, that would eventually become my first car, and she'd let me drive, while interjecting her own advice on driving... and perhaps life in between destinations. Like a lot of Grandmothers, she was very outspoken, and opinionated. But she was also very smart. She had a great quick sarcastic wit that I will cherish and could always entertain you with a story or a song. She also wasn’t afraid to get a little silly, which is a timeless quality that I love. She said many times that she was ready to go home to God. And I guess now she is. Current Mood: melancholy
