ACC's Doo-Dad - January 19th, 2005
A look into the life of Adam Caskey
the world keeps a spinnin; diversity?
I donated some blood today. Haven't done that since 'nam. It's surprising how much of your endurance that zaps out of you though. I thought I was about to die biking on the way back from class, heh.

Classes went as usual today. I'm still waiting on that Linear Algebra for Calculus textbook to come in. My other 2 books finally came today. I need to start doing some homework in the Linear class though.

The thought occurred to me last night that people (including myself) so often seek out relationships (friendships, and otherwise) with people we see as similar to ourselves, or similar to people we want to emulate. I was trying to figure out why that was, and also, if it was an instinct that should be fought off. In business management, we are taught to encourage diversity in both personality and in other more obvious aspects like race and gender, as these differences encourage more creativity and allow for a greater representation of ideas and beliefs. Can this also apply to interpersonal relationships? Or do the concepts differ too greatly to be interchangeable? These questions are somewhat hypothetical, and more about me thinking out loud. But hey, feel free to provide feedback and thoughts if you have any.
