ACC's Doo-Dad - August 2nd, 2002

A fun Thursday here in Destin. Woke up late... (surprise)... and read a little from my book before going out to eat lunch at that Taco Bell... and I noticed today by the way, that you can actually see the ocean from a certain seat in the restaurant! Wow, thats a Taco Bell first for me... seeing ocean. Yes Alyssa, I can see you rolling your eyes... just leave me the small things in life! =) I went up to the Silver Sands Outlet and got some shopping done, and ran some more errands. I came back and dyed my hair another color, and tried on some of my new clothes. After heading to the beach for a walk, I met up with Todd, Matt, and some girls over at the Sandestin Bayside market. I had some dinner and ran some more wonderful errands before coming back here and getting wrapped up in my book. I couldn't put it down and ended up finishing it! After that, I went down into downtown Destin to "AJ's" to meet up with Matt and Todd. They were wonderfully enthralled with a variety of ladies, and after a while, Matt and I took off for the condo and stopped at "Whattaburger"... (some 24 hour burger joint down here). They give you a damn big burger. Anyhow, now we're watching Batman & Robin re-runs on Nick-At-Night (see Brian, I really DO love true cheeseyness), and eatin our food. All is good.

It occurred to me earlier tonight just how backwoods this whole area is. I know we're very close to Panama City Beach, which many remind me is of course, the "Redneck Riviera". So, it would only be fitting that it would be something like that here. You can see the rednecks with the rebel flag stickers and whatnot, but just in listening to people talk in line at the grocery store and whatnot, you get the jist of how closed minded this whole area is. It just reminds me to be a bit careful about how open I am down here. It's sad when you can't be yourself just because of people's ignorance. And from ignorance, breeds hate.
